Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric is added to pretty much anything Indian dish I make at home. It is a staple in Indian kitchens and there is a reason for it – turmeric is anti-inflammatory, high in antioxidants. Curcumin, the main component in turmeric, supports the immune system in its ability to fight infection, inflammation and it has pain-relieving properties.

Benefits of Lemon

Lemons are like little fruits of sunshine! Just a little squeeze of lemon in water is so refreshing. Sicily is known for its lemons and they produce the best lemons in the world. Sicily’s Siracusa Lemons are protected just like Cognac and Champagne in the EU. We found watermelon-sized lemons when driving on the Amalfi coast in Italy a while back.

The health benefits of lemon are attributed to its vitamin C content. Drinking a cup of warm lemon water helps improve skin health, encourages weight loss, and acts as a breath freshener. Lemons also help with dental problems, throat infections, and is even said to fight cancer. Lemon is a natural diuretic that helps purge unwanted water weight.

Benefits of Ginger

Ginger works as the detoxifier in this Ginger Lemon Detox Tea. It helps remove unwanted chemicals from your body. It is also known to improve digestion, suppress your appetite, and keep your metabolism fired-up all day. The powerful healing properties of ginger have a long list of health benefits, including cancer prevention.

Start with just making a Lemon Ginger Tea and once you get used to the flavor you can add turmeric to turn it into a Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea.

Optionally add a pinch of Cinnamon. It helps lower Blood Sugar Levels and has a powerful Anti-Diabetic Effect. Cinnamon also helps fight bacterial and fungal infections.

If you like your Lemon Ginger Tea a little sweet, add local honey. Since we live in Texas I add a smidge of Texas Honey to Mr. Suburbia’s Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea. Helps with his allergies. Manuka Honey came highly recommended by a friend who says it has really helped with her allergies.

You can add a pinch of Cayenne for a spicer version of the Lemon Ginger Tea. The capsaicin in Cayenne heats up the body, increasing energy expenditure and helps burn more calories.

Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea when Traveling

Once you get used to starting your morning with this Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea, you will miss it on days when you can’t make it. So when traveling take some of these premade tea bags with you. Make your lemon ginger tea with some hot water and add a pinch of turmeric. While not exactly the same as making it fresh, it is the second best!

You can also pour this Lemon Ginger Tea in your water bottle or in a tall glass over some ice, and sip it all day. That is what I do during the warm summer months!
