Girls Getaway: Plano Art and Wine walk

When art and wine come together in Plano’s historic neighborhood, how can I not go… so I gathered my favorite gal pals to sample some wine, admire art and catch up under the twinkling lights at McCall Plaza in Downtown Plano.   We checked in at Events 1013 – it is one of my favorite spots in the area, we had our daughter’s 16 birthday there.  The exposed brick lined venue that doubles as a gallery was buzzing with activity as we got checked in and started on our Plano Art and Wine Walk.

Jason Felkner
Jason Felkner

Jason Felkner was having his solo popup show at the venue, we stopped to chat with the artist. Jason shared with us how he painted some of the Pollack inspired drip paintings and mentioned that he was hoping to work on a similar landscape one soon.  We love his Madonna and child, appropriate for the Mother’s day Weekend coming up and the Cinco de Mama theme of the Art & Wine walk for the month ( each month’s wine walk has a different theme)  Jason shared with us the photo that inspired his Dance painting.

Magaly Designs

Magaly Designs was offering specials on their unique jewelry and bag, so we stopped by to sip some wine and try some jewelry.  We walked around to different quaint stores in Downtown Plano, mostly owner-operated – no big-box chain stores, just small stores and people with hearts as big as Texas.

We popped in at Ten20 Gallery to see what art they had up, they always have something new and it a fun place to stop by.  There was some handmade jewelry on display as well.  We loved the Rockstar by Jessica Medina.

Coffee + Friends = Perfection!
We stopped at XO Coffee Company for a slice of their moist and creamy Italian cake.

Then it was a quick stop at Dude Sweet Chocolate, and artisan chocolate is the specialty of this sweets shop, which also makes fudge, truffles & toffee.

Yoga Tree Plano, Plano art and wine walk

We stopped at Yoga tree next and loved the Big Om painted on the wall, my friend was inspired to try her best Tree pose while we were there!  I had one too many sips of wine to try and attempt any yoga at that point.

Things were starting to blur so we had to skip out on Art Center of Plano, which has been on my places to stop. Nestled among age old trees in Haggard Park overlooking gracious landscaping that has a pond with a bridge to a gazebo, the event center is one of the best in Plano to get artsy.

We ended up spending time some chilling under the light at the McCall Plaza

We couldn’t go home without some treats for the family, so we stopped at AmazeBalz for some goodies.
