Spring Break Escapes: Beachy Fun

Pebble Beach Resorts

On the beaches along the Monterey Peninsula in sunny central California, Pebble Beach is the prime spot for spring breakers looking for days of sporty fun combined with scenic views and world-class accommodations. From golfing at championship courses to kayaking in the cove to hiking Big Sur, Pebble Beach Resorts has something for everyone.

After a day of adventures, guests can unwind with a trip to The Spa at Pebble Beach or watch the sunset at the Spanish Bay fire pits as the bagpiper serenades in the background. Snuggle up by one of the many fire tables at Stillwater Bar & Grill or Tuscan-style Pèppoli to enjoy a delicious meal with the kids.

The Seagate

Experience the ultimate beachside escape at The Seagate in Delray Beach, Florida, where laid-back coastal elegance meets adventure. Golf enthusiasts can tee off at The Seagate Golf Club, home to one of Palm Beach County’s premier courses, along with Har-Tru tennis courts, pickleball courts and a state-of-the-art fitness center. For those seeking a more leisurely retreat, The Seagate Beach Club offers exclusive access to oceanfront dining, a saltwater pool, a poolside bar and direct beach access.

While you are at the Seagate, enjoy a Vinyasa class during the rise of the full moon over the ocean on Delray Beach to energize your body and spirit. You can never go wrong with spring breaking in Florida 🙂 This is probably where you will find me!

Off-the-beaten-path Adventures for Spring Break

Westchester County

For a serene escape just a stone’s throw from NYC, Tarrytown House Estate in Westchester County is a quaint escape offering the charm and tranquility of a countryside retreat – without the long trek. This Hudson River Valley retreat blends its historic 19th-century architecture with modern comforts.

Guests can indulge in bold Cantonese flavors from gastronomy guru Chef Dale Talde at Goosefeather, take a dip in an indoor pool and enjoy a friendly match on the estate’s racquetball, volleyball and bocce ball courts. Beyond the property, Westchester invites exploration – hike the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail, step into the legend of Sleepy Hollow or embark on the Westchester Craft Beverage Trail.

Mountainous Retreat

Whiteface Lodge

Tucked away in the heart of the Adirondack mountains lies Whiteface Lodge, a haven for travelers looking for the quintessential rustic and luxurious mountain getaway. Just down the road, Whiteface Mountain offers prime spring skiing, while nearby High Falls Gorge provides breathtaking hikes through rugged terrain and icy waterfalls.

Back at the Lodge, guests can unwind in spacious cabin-style suites and take advantage of a host of complimentary amenities, including indoor and outdoor pools, a game room, ice skating, a bowling alley and a movie theater. End the day with a fireside treat, as the Lodge’s signature nightly s’mores bring the perfect touch of nostalgia to this unforgettable escape – ideal for families, students and adventure-seekers alike.

Lakeside Lodgings

The Lake House on Canandaigua

Located in New York’s Finger Lakes region, The Lake House on Canandaigua is a waterfront beauty with inclusive amenities and a wealth of seasonal outdoor watersports activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and even sailing excursions. A short drive to iconic local gorges offers breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences.

Onsite bike rentals are also available for explorations of the charming beauty of Canandaigua’s Main Street and surrounding area. Finally, a trip to Willowbrook Spa is sure to leave guests feeling refreshed. The Nordic-inspired saunas offer warmth and relaxation with stunning views of the surrounding lake.

Other Spring Break Trip Ideas

The list of destinations for Spring is endless in my humble opinion. The air is crisp, the leaves are a bright shade of green and some destinations like Japan, and Washington DC will have Cherry Blossoms for their spring blooms.

Want to get out of the country, while combining some beach time and adventures? Costa Rica, Peru, and Galapagos in Ecuador are other great destinations for Spring break. You can’t go wrong with any of the Caribbean islands. Of all the Caribbean islands we have been to Turks and Caicos is a family favorite.

Spring Break Destination Ideas for families | Outside Suburbia

Arenal La Fortuna in Costa Rica gets a respite from the rains for a few weeks in February and March, making it a perfect time to visit. Plus if you are lucky you might spot a resplendent quetzal in the cloud forest since it is their mating season. Don’t miss the divine Pineapples!!

We were in Peru last March for Spring Break and thoroughly enjoyed the Peruvian cuisine. The food and produce were so fresh and presentations at the restaurants in Lima were some of the best I have seen. Peru is one of the best culinary destinations in the world. Then, of course, you get to check out one of the wonders of the World — Machu Picchu.

March and April in the Galapagos are a great time to visit. The rains begin to ease down, the seas are calm, the weather is warm and the wildlife abundant. If you are a wildlife enthusiast then Galapagos is another place that should be on your Spring Break Destinations list. You might even see some baby boobies or iguanas.
