To mark our 30th anniversary, we celebrated in style at the magnificent Leela Palace Jaipur. Set against the Aravalli Hills and designed like a modern Mughal palace, the hotel offered the perfect blend of grandeur and timeless elegance. Each moment, from the petal-strewn welcome to the gracious farewell, radiated genuine care and heartfelt hospitality.

Nestled amidst the regal beauty of Rajasthan, our stay at The Leela Palace Jaipur felt nothing short of a modern-day royal escape. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in warm hospitality, fragrant frangipani flowers, and the gentle rhythm of regal serenity. Every moment was a soft melody of grace, heritage, and quiet luxury.

A graceful fusion of Rajputana and Mughal splendour, the palace has gleaming white façades, intricate jaalis, and silver-trimmed chhatris. I enjoyed strolling through manicured gardens and marble corridors inlaid with parchin kari, (a type of Indian technique used for inlaying polished stone to create collages, mosaics), past shimmering thikri mirrorwork and frescoes that tell regal tales.

The palace is a harmonious blend of heritage architecture and contemporary luxury. Mornings began with coffee in the courtyard, listening to a flutist playing old tunes, and evenings ended under starlit skies, surrounded by flickering diyas and traditional music performances and the rhythm of Rajasthani folk music.
Our room overlooked manicured gardens and mirrored the opulence of a bygone era—plush bedding, marble baths, and those little thoughtful touches that make you feel truly pampered.
Whether it was dining on Rajastani delicacies at Mohan Mahal, lounging by the serene pool, or simply strolling the grounds in awe, the Leela Palace was a magical retreat that captured the grandeur of Jaipur.
WHAT IS IN THIS POST
Palatial Comfort Meets Modern Luxury
Our suite was truly a sanctuary. With regal decor, plush bedding, a marble-clad bathroom, and a private terrace overlooking the palace gardens, it was hard to leave the room. But the hotel grounds, with their courtyards, fountains, and candle-lit alcoves… it felt like stepping into a Rajasthani fairytale.

Dining Like Royalty
Don’t miss dinner at Mohan Mahal; it is an absolute highlight. Candlelight reflected in mirrored walls, soft sitar music, and rich Rajasthani cuisine make the experience unforgettable. You would feel like a princess whisked away by a Rajput prince 🙂
The story goes—long ago, a king dreamed of capturing the night sky—not for himself, but for his beloved queen. She longed to walk under the stars, so the Sheesh Mahal—the Palace of Mirrors—was born.

Crafted by master artisans, the walls of the room were inlaid with thousands of tiny, hand-cut mirrors, imported from distant lands and polished till they gleamed like stardust. By day, sunlight danced across the ceiling, creating a golden glow. But by night, with the light of just one candle, the entire palace came alive—each mirror reflecting and multiplying the flicker until it felt like the heavens had descended inside the room.
It is said that the queen would sit beneath that shimmering canopy, surrounded by what looked like a thousand stars, wrapped in the quiet magic of love and light. Sheesh Mahal wasn’t just architecture—it was devotion, a gift of the cosmos, captured in stone and glass. From a king to his queen, how awesome is that!
Moments to Savor
We did some shopping and sightseeing in Jaipur and went on a tiger safari in Ranthambore, but it was the last day at the resort that we cherished the most. We did absolutely nothing! We spent lazy afternoons by the pool, sipped masala chai at golden hour, and indulged in traditional massage therapies at the SPA. The evening ended with live folk music and a stroll through the palace’s glowing walkways. It was peaceful, poetic, and deeply rejuvenating.

Restaurants at Leela Palace Jaipur
At Leela Palace, there were quite a few options for dining. The all-day diner Sukh Mahal, a Rajasthani buffet, is also where breakfast is served. The food and dessert spreads were amazing, but what impressed me was the presence of an Aujasya menu for cocktails, featuring low-sugar, fresh ingredients, spices, and herbal tonics, available at the Jharokha Bar.

Executive chef Varun Parashar has also created an alternative for a Rajasthani thali, which is a challenge for most chefs, as this cuisine is high in its spice-fat content. This is available at the hotel’s star restaurant—Mohan Mahal. This beautiful dinner-only restaurant’s design is inspired by the grand Sheesh Mahal (palace of mirrors) at the nearby Amer Fort. Every inch of the wall and roof is covered in Thikri work—a Rajasthani style of embellishment where artisans use small pieces of mirror to painstakingly create intricate patterns by hand.

My favorite part
Leela’s range of in-house toiletries, Tishya, feels fabulous on your skin and hair, and carries the hotel’s signature perfume. Distilled from kumud (lotus) and neelakurinji (a flower that blossoms once in 12 years), this delicate floral note scent lingers on your skin, the room, the spa, and across the hotel’s lobbies. I snag a few little soap bars every time I’m at a Leela property. It is truly my favorite scent!

How Leela Jaipur Compares to Leela Kovalam
Having previously stayed at Leela Kovalam, we were struck by how beautifully distinct the two properties are. Kovalam’s charm lies in its clifftop ocean views, coastal breezes, and relaxed tropical vibes—perfect for a laid-back seaside escape. In contrast, Leela Jaipur radiates royal grandeur, offering a deeper cultural immersion into India’s regal heritage.
While Kovalam felt breezy and soulful, Jaipur was immersive and majestic. Both offer impeccable service and thoughtful luxury—yet each tells a very different, beautiful story of India.

A Celebration to Remember
Celebrating our 30th anniversary at Leela Palace Jaipur was more than a trip—it was a memory stitched together with spice, music, and magic. A place where every detail spoke of grace and every corner whispered celebration. We left with hearts full, minds quiet, and a promise to return.

Some Jaipur highlights we loved:
- Viewpoint: Nahargarh Fort
- Instagrammable Spot: Patrika Gate. It was pretty but crowded. I loved the Peacock Gate at City Palace
- Best Local Snack: Pyaaz Kachori at Rawat. Best when eaten warm
- Best Souvenirs: Block-printed textiles, gemstones, and blue pottery
- Unexpected Gems: Stepwells and cafés with beautiful interiors and craft cocktails
