Kasbah Tamdot, Morocco

The 28 guestrooms of the Kasbah located at the foot of the Atlas mountains are beautifully decorated with antiques. When Sir Richard Branson bought the kasbah the team took the time to train locals to work in the resort. The retreat supports the local communities which include free English lessons, they focus on sustainable development and energy-saving efforts. The Eve Branson Foundation formed by Branson’s mother supports several local craft workshops, which sell their wares in the on-site gift shop.

Kenya

ANGAMA MARA

Angama Mara, Kenya

The 30 luxury tents of the luxury safari camp while made of canvas material have glass-fronted patios that open up to pretty sunrises and sunsets over the Mara plains. Angama Mara is founded on the principle of running a profitable business in order to make a meaningful and sustainable difference to the communities that neighbor the lodge, and the wildlife and land that surround it. Guests contributes a US$ 10 per night donation to the Angama Foundation, a separate entity which has been setup to support three fields of work: Education, Healthcare and Conservation.

&BEYOND BATELEUR CAMP

andBeyond Bateleur Camp, Kenya

&Beyond Bateleur Camp might be outfitted bespoke furnishings, antiques and fancy crystalware but has a close relationship with neighboring communities in the Mara. Most of the employees are local and the camp heavily invests with Africa Foundation for education and healthcare. The camp does not use plastic water bottles and use vegetables are from their garden and local honey from a Maasai women’s group.
