The 6 Travel Essentials You Will Need This Summer

Whether you will be exploring your own country or going on an international trip. These six travel essentials will keep you going this summer while having fun;

1. Sunglasses

Your summer vacation will not be complete without a good pair of sunglasses. It’s not just about making a fashion statement; you must also protect your eyes.

When shopping for glasses, choose ones that can offer 100% protection from UV rays. If you forget to get sunglasses before summer, here’s the fastest way to get eyeglasses for the summer. It would help if you did not even think of the summer without sunglasses.

Since you will likely be at the beach this summer, you can also consider polarized glasses to protect your eyes from reflections of the water surfaces.

2. Lightweight Summer Clothing

The clothing you take along during your summer trip has a lot to do with the level of fun you get to enjoy. As a woman, you should pack maxi dresses, beach dresses, sundresses, linen pants, tank tops, and halter drop dresses.

You will need shorts, beachwear, lightweight pants, floral shirts, and T-shirts as a man.

Don’t forget to pack sunhats and bathing suits. You may also not know if you need a pair of rugged jeans, that’s why you should not be without one. There are also chilly summer nights, and that’s when jackets come in handy.

However, lightweights are easy to pack, fold, and carry when choosing your summer clothes.

3. Sunscreen

One of my most important packing Tips for a Summer Vacation! Apply sunscreen first thing in the morning! No matter your skin tone, we all need it! I apply Neutrogena or SuperGoop on my face. If we are going to the beach, I use either SuperGoop Stick (easy to carry if you fly with just carry-on) or another safe yet water-resistant sunscreen.

Look for non-aerosol sunscreens that protect your skin while also minimizing harm to the environment. If you care about the ocean and marine life bring along some reef safe sunscreen. This one is waterproof for up to 80 minutes whether in the sand, sun, sea or surf. And it has broad-spectrum protection from both UVA / UVB rays to protect from sunburn. It is Zinc Oxide based Oxybenzone and Octinoxate free, in fact completely chemical-free and safe for kids and marine life that we all need to help protect.

4. Sun Hats

Of course, you would have packed sunscreen for the summer, but you will need more than that to protect yourself. Another essential you will need will be a wide-brimmed sunhat to protect yourself from the harsh nature of the sun.

While sunscreen is doing its job, sun hats will offer you long-lasting protection from the sun. A hat will shade your face, eyes, ears, and neck from the harmful ray of the sun. Look for hats with a 3-4 inches brim, depending on where you travel this summer. This will keep you safe regardless of the harshness of the sun.

Or try to find a similar foldable hat that travels well. There will be room for sun hats in your summer bag if they are floppy and foldable.

These foldable and packable Panama Hat from Cuyana is handwoven in Ecuador from Toquilla straw and great for the beach as they are breathable. So are these Madewell ones that I usually pack for my beach trips! For a stylish sun hut with a wide floppy brim braided in natural straw, try this beautiful hat or this one with a bow.

5. Reusable water bottle

Water is life; it’s needed for the functioning of our organs and to keep us cool. You cannot go on a summer trip without a reusable water bottle. Without adequate water in your body, you cannot enjoy your summer trip.

Due to the heat, you need to drink as much water as possible during the summer. There’s also the need to keep your skin well-hydrated all summer and filter out toxins. If you are dehydrated, you are putting yourself in harm’s way, which can lead to serious health complications.

You need to drink as much water as possible, as heat stroke is common in summer. This is why we advise that while you are going for your summer holiday, you must devise how to stay hydrated. Invest in reusable water bottles that are easy to transport wherever you go.

6. First-aid and Emergency Kit

Accidents and emergencies happen; it’s a normal part of life. However, you should not be caught unprepared when this happens. This is why a first-aid kit will be a lifesaver, especially when you are far away from home.

When packing for your summer travels, ensure that there are band-aids, adhesive tapes, antiseptic wipes, and gauze pads handy. These are items you will need to use in an emergency.
