Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi and spend your first night recovering from your international flight. If time permits, visit the Giraffe Centre, or David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. We did both as we had 2 days and 2 nights in Nairobi.
Enjoy dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant before your safari adventure begins.

Days 2-3: Begin Your Safari at andBeyond Bateleur Camp
A short bush flight takes you into the heart of the Maasai Mara, where your first safari experience begins at the elegant andBeyond Bateleur Camp.
The welcome setup at the airstrip was a wonderful way to start the safari trip! We saw so many wildlife on the way to the camp.

Days 4-6: Angama Mara
Transfer to Angama Mara, dramatically perched high above the Great Rift Valley. The panoramic views alone make this one of Africa’s most iconic safari lodges.
Every glass-fronted suite overlooks the Maasai Mara, where elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and lions roam freely across the plains below.

How to travel between Masai mara and Serengeti
We had to take a small 13 seat aircraft from Masai Mara, and then drive to cross the border between Kenya and Tanzania and hop into another small aircraft from an open-air airport with an unpaved runway at Tarime airstrip to get to the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti. Was it worth it? 100% yes!
Days 7-9: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Fly into Tanzania’s Serengeti for the next chapter of your safari adventure.
The endless golden plains of the Serengeti are home to one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth. Staying at the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti allows you to enjoy luxury accommodations alongside remarkable wildlife viewing.

Between July and October, this region also offers incredible opportunities to witness the Great Migration.
If you have time you can visit the Ngorongoro crater a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the largest intact volcanic calderas. You have more chances of seeing wildlife, including the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinoceros.
We skipped it since it was too far of a drive from our location. And we had already seen the Big Five and chose to spend time closer to the lodge.

Days 10-13: Zanzibar
After days of thrilling safari adventures, fly to the tropical island of Zanzibar.

Luxury Safari Lodges vs Camps
One of the biggest surprises was just how beautiful the safari camps were. We we stayed at a luxury safari lodge and a couple of safari camps and I for sure recommend a Safari camp. Such an amazing experience and unparallel service.

Best Time to Visit
The ideal time for this itinerary is June through October, when wildlife viewing is at its best and the Great Migration moves through the Maasai Mara and northern Serengeti. Zanzibar also enjoys warm temperatures, sunny skies, and calm waters during these months, making it the perfect complement to your safari.
