Hotel Splendid Etoile : At the heart of Champs-Elysees with a Twinkling view

The allure of Paris is undeniable, we use Charles de Gaulle as our routing airport into Europe at every opportunity we get and spend a few days before or after a trip.  The city of light is hard to beat for Romance, History and Culture, wish we had the luxury of weeks or months to explore every café, every street, every Arrondissement, but we have to take it in bite size portions at a time for now.  On our most recent visit to Paris we stayed at the Hotel Splendid Etoile, a boutique hotel which was steps away from Champs-Elysees.

Not far from the most luxurious hotels of Paris like the Four Seasons Hotel George V and Ritz Paris stand some discreet hotels, places recommended by locals, bloggers and friends to those in search of authenticity, whether from France or abroad and Hotel Splendid is one of them.  We had the suite here at the Hotel Splendid Etoile with a French balcony that had an amazing view of city of Light. We used the living room as the bedroom where the kids shared the sofa bed.  We were on the top floor, saw the Eiffel tower twinkling at night and woke up to café au lait with up close view of the Arc de Triomphe.  The hotel had really good breakfast that we missed out on.  We ended up walking to the different avenues on Place de L’etoile (Place Charles de Gaulle), there are 12 after all and stopped at a café for breakfast each day.

We loved the hotel’s old fashioned key instead of the magnetic keys used in most hotels.  The bathrooms were big bright and airy. The staff was friendly and recommended some good restaurants around the area.  We had dinner one night at Casa di Delfo, an Italian restaurant on Rue de la Tremoille – which I highly recommend. It was a nice evening walk from the hotel to the restaurant, taking in the sights and tourists on Champs-Elysees.  Since we were a family of four, we opted for the Uber to most places and it worked out pretty well and didn’t use the metro as much,  even though the station for the metro was right next door to the hotel.  We loved that the hotel was located on a quiet street away from the tourists but within walking distance to the shopping and sights.

Of the zillion things to see and experience in Paris, my favorite is taking in the view from top of the Arc de Triomphe, if you can time it around sunset even better and since it is so close to the Hotel, we ended up there a couple of nights and at the Twinkling Tour de Eiffel on another night.  A boat tour on Seine river is another must do- how ever touristy it sounds, the perspective of the beautiful city and her many bridges is different from the water and must not be missed.  You can do one of the many bigger, more frequent and crowded tour boats or arrange for a private River Limousine.

Morning latte with a view, trust me this view never got old

We might have gone a little crazy with the Chanel shopping here, but did you know these white bags are only available in the Rue Cambon store!

  1. Classy, beautiful and such a romantic place to visit. How awesome it is to stay within the heart of Paris! I am glad that you had a great time there and I wish to visit there again pretty soon! @ knycx.journeying

  2. If i ever visit Paris, this will be my guide. It’s always better to stay in offbeat hotels and hostels to cut unnecessary costs.
