Ida Claire : South of Ordinary Southern Cuisine

Ida Claire – South of Ordinary… an intriguing, southern-inspired hot spot for relaxing suppers, slow weekend brunching or a meeting hub for business lunches and happy hour. We had a happy hour meet up with a couple of Dallas Blogger Buddies at the centrally located Addison area. Walking in we were impressed with the Contemporary Southern vibe of the space, decked with antique bird cages hanging from the ceiling to a boatload of Deep South memorabilia decorating the walls. We fell instantly in love with the hand cut crystal glasses, cute menu and the mismatched southern serving ware and plates on the table!

You can find a great selection of draught beers, wines and usual array of cocktails here.  The bartender makes a mean Julep too, you can also find Gimlets, Hurricanes and other craft cocktails on the menu. Everything is served with Southern charm and hospitality enticing imbibement on every occasion.  We loved our Hibiscus tea Juleps we ordered.

Ids Claire serves upscale Southern comfort food including Southern staples like pimento cheese, grits, okra, barbecue and sweet potatoes – along with more refined touches, such as duck confit, wood roasted oysters. My favorite are the Fried Green Tomato, Stone fruit Kale Salad with crispy chicken and Chicken and waffles. At Ida Claire, the Chicken and waffle is taken up a notch where the chicken is fried crisp then drenched in hot-sauce infused butter. Served with waffle as the side dish, along with some chicory coffee infused Maple syrup.

We saw some barbecued shrimp biscuit and chicken in a biscuit passing by to other tables and looked delish!

We finished our meal with a Vice cake, a stout cake with Tobacco simple syrup, coffee, buttercream, smoked candied bacon and ganache! Needless to say we wiped that plate clean!!

A vintage Airstream trailer, is parked near the front entrance serving as a private dining room, but during our visit, we just wandered inside for some pictures!

Sorry that the pictures are not of the greatest quality, it was a dinner meeting with friends and I was not planning taking pictures, so didn’t bring my camera along…but the place was too cute and the food too delicious not to share!

For more information checkout their website and always make reservation before going since it is popular hangout in Addison for happy hours and dinners!
